Why Affirmations Are So Powerful
It is said that 'our thoughts become our things'. So, if you have some serious stinkin' thinkin' going on then I can only guess that your life is commonly filled with anger, jealously, anxiety, self doubt, and a lack of confidence.
How'd she know? ;)
Your mind is everything. It controls how you feel, what you say, and what you do. If you have a crappy tune playing over and over on your mental record player then how in the hell are you going to feel happy and content in your life? (Don't worry! You can!!)
If you don't already know; affirmations are power statements that are created specifically for the area that you are wanting to improve upon. These are written (and spoken) in the present term such as
The reasoning being that when you state that it is already true, your mind begins to believe that it is truth.
To begin, you want to find an area that you know you want to improve upon. Maybe it is self confidence, financial, self image. Perhaps you want to be a better soul mate or, you want to find your soul mate. Hone in on what area(s) you'd like to work on and then begin creating your affirmations.
I find that the easiest way to create specific affirmations is to look at the area's that I currently feel I am blocked in, or currently believe not to be true for me. I then take that current negative belief and flip it to a positive one and I write it in the present term "I am" or "I have".
Body image is always a common one, especially for females. Often we feel like if we just lost xx amount of pounds our life would be amazing and we would truly love ourselves (not true, babe!). Here's a great affirmation for you if you feel this way.
"I am happy and confident in the skin I am in. I love my body just the way that it is."
Declare it to be true, say this over and over again when you wake up in the morning and throughout your day. When you speak to yourself kindly and affirm that it is true you WILL begin to believe it. Because, after all our thoughts really DO become things.
I challenge you to create a list of 10 affirmations specific to the area's you wish to mentally work on, this will start to melt away those limiting beliefs that you have created in your mind and I guarantee that you will begin to feel more confident in those area's of your life. When you make your list, you want to really write affirmations that sort of 'sting' when you think about it. The reason being is, that when you have these sort of reaction it means that you currently don't believe it to be true for yourself. And, you want to change that!
Want to level up your affirmations? Say them to yourself out loud in front of a mirror so that you can look yourself in the eyes and speak these kind words to yourself.
Another tip, set an alarm on your phone to go off at random times of the day. On many smart phones you can customize what you want your alarm to show up as, simply change it to your specific affirmation. This is a great way to remind yourself how amazing you and to say that affirmation 10x to yourself.
What are some of your affirmations that you are working on right now? I'd love to hear them! Please share them in the comment section so that you can inspire others to recognize just how amazing they are as well.
